2026.07.20 Leon Gruenbaum on Wayne Shorter and Milton Nascimento

Seeing as it’s a known fact that the loveliest sound in the universe is Milton Nascimento’s voice with Wayne Shorter’s music, can we all just agree to set aside 3 hours this week to luxuriate in it?  We know what you’re thinking: “Wayne’s album ‘Native Dancer,’ great idea!”  Yeah okay, but Deep Focus guest samchillianist Leon Gruenbaum asks host Mitch Goldman to do that one better.  Does the WKCR archive have live recordings of those two together?  If you don’t ask, you don’t get.

Tune in this Monday (7/20) from 6pm to 9pm NYC time on WKCR 89.9FM, WKCR-HD or wkcr.org.

Or join us when it goes up on the Deep Focus podcast on your favorite podcasting app or at https://mitchgoldman.podbean.com/.  It will join over 450 promo-free episodes.  Subscribe right now to get notifications when new episodes are posted.  It’s ad-free, all free, sponsor-free, totally non-commercial.  We won’t even ask for your contact info.
